Our story

A continent of beauty — and a burden that would not leave.

Africa is a land of extraordinary beauty, resilience, and potential. And yet, for too many children, that same land is where the weight of poverty, displacement, disease, and fractured families has quietly erased the promise of tomorrow. Orphans. Children in foster care. Children separated from the ones who were supposed to hold them. They stand on the edge of hopelessness — yearning for someone, anyone, to see them.

The story of Africa Hope Outreach began with that burden. In the face of immense need, a call emerged as a beacon of hope for the forgotten, the abandoned, and the overlooked. Not a program. Not a campaign. A movement — grounded in the conviction that the Gospel has something real to say to every child who has ever asked, “Does anyone see me?”

Through education, health, family reintegration, and faith-based care, AHO is creating pathways for change. From scholarships for vulnerable children to holistic support for families in crisis, every effort is aimed at breaking the cycle of poverty and despair — and replacing it with something generational.

We believe no child should have to choose between survival and their dreams. With the support of communities, partners, and compassionate individuals, Africa Hope Outreach is turning stories of loss into testimonies of triumph — sowing seeds of hope across Africa, one child at a time.

The need we see

Why we can’t look away.

The numbers are staggering. Behind every statistic is a child with a name — and the real question is never “Can we?” It’s “Will we?”

  • 0M+ Orphans & vulnerable children in sub-Saharan Africa
  • 0in 3 African children out of school before age 18
  • 0% Households living below the poverty line in rural Kenya
  • None Of these stories should end without hope

Our journey

From one burden to a movement.

A decade of small, stubborn acts of love — which is to say, a decade of miracles.

  1. 2013

    Our Story Began

Our Story Began... The cries of vulnerable children were everywhere — hidden in the streets, buried in forgotten villages, and echoing through dumping sites where hunger and abandonment had become a way of life. Children wandered with no parents to protect them, no food to sustain them, and no hope for tomorrow. Some searched through dustbins for leftovers just to survive another day. Others slept hungry, unnoticed, and unloved.

  2. 2015

A moment we could not forget

Then came a moment that could never be forgotten. Baby Festus was found abandoned and thrown onto a dumping site, left among garbage as though his life carried no value. Nearby, starving children reportedly thought the tiny body was meat because hunger had robbed them even of innocence. It was a heartbreaking picture of how deep the suffering had become.

  3. 2018

    A divine calling

In that moment, the Lord began to stir something deeper in the heart of Marcus Wameyo. Through His Word, God gave a mandate that could no longer be ignored:

“Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress...”

    James 1:27

What looked like unbearable pain became a divine calling. What seemed like a burden became a mission from God. The Lord placed a conviction on Marcus’s heart that these children were not forgotten by Heaven. Their cries mattered to God. Their lives had value. And someone had to respond. Out of that burden, Africa Hope Outreach (AHO) was born.

  4. 2021

    A movement of compassion

AHO was founded not simply as an organization, but as a God-given mission to rescue vulnerable children, restore dignity to the abandoned, strengthen broken families, and carry the love of Christ into places filled with despair. Child by child. Village by village. Generation by generation. What began with heartbreak became a movement of compassion and hope — standing for the orphaned, the neglected, the abused, and the overlooked. Through rescue support, education, advocacy, family empowerment, and care for vulnerable children, AHO exists to remind every child that they are seen, loved, and created with purpose. Because no child should be thrown away. No child should grow up believing they are worthless. And no child should suffer without someone answering their cry.

  5. Today

    The mission continues

Today, the mission continues — bringing hope where there was despair, family where there was abandonment, and light where darkness once prevailed.

What drives us

Our core values.

01

Christ-centered

Jesus is the foundation, not an add-on. Every program, every home, every meal flows from the Gospel.

02

Dignity, not charity

We don’t do things to children — we walk with them. Every life is treated as a treasure, not a case file.

03

Empowerment first

Handouts create dependency. We build skills, confidence and character — so children become leaders, not recipients.

04

Accountable stewards

Every shilling is tracked. Every decision is questioned. Transparency isn’t a policy — it’s a reflex.

Rooted in Christ

“Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.”

— James 1:27

Every Care Village, every meal, every classroom is an answer to this verse. This is why AHO exists — and why we can’t stop.
